The latest change to the merit badge system took place this week with a name change. The Cinematography merit badge will henceforth be known as Moviemaking.
The change was made to recognize the fact that cinematography is just one part, albeit an important one, in the process of making a movie. The badge covers the full range of cinematic expression, not just the camera and film part.
The requirements remain largely unchanged but have been updated slightly in light of the name change.
You can read more about the change here. Scouts wishing to earn the Moviemaking merit badge should follow the usual procedure – visit with the Scoutmaster to obtain a blue card and a referral to a counselor.
